From 3 to 5 April, the virtual hackathon #VersusVirus, under the patronage of the Federal Department of Home Affairs, will bring together researchers, experts technology specialists, and co-citizens from all over Switzerland to develop innovative solutions in dealing with and against the coronavirus COVID-19 and its consequences on our society.

Under this year’s theme « Sustaining all life on earth » CITES Secretariat within the framework of the Geneva Environment Network organizes the panel discussion « Biodiversity loss, wildlife, people and sustainable use ». Starting at 9.30, at Palais des Nations, the panel will be followed by a film screening.

To mark its 75th anniversary, the United Nations is launching the global conversation UN75 on the role of global cooperation in building the future we want by 2045. On 25 February at the Graduate Institute, UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres will listen to the views and ideas of 6 youth leaders, and then he will welcome comments from the floor and through social media.

On 18 February, Professor Petteri Taalas, WMO Secretary-General, presented a conference about « Climate Change and Disasters » at the Faculty of Law of Geneva. According to WMO, « the 2017 hurricane season in the Caribbean was unprecedented.

From 15 to 21 February, the Geneva International Model United Nations (GIMUN) will hold its Annual Conference under the theme « 100 years of Multilateralism. The Past, Present, and Future.» Recruited delegates, interpreters, ambassadors, journalists, chairs, and translators will simulate six committees of the UN and other international organizations.

75 years after the liberation of Auschwitz, UNOG presents the documentary film "The Accountant of Auschwitz" by Matthew Shoychet. The screening will take place at the Empire Cinema on Tuesday, 4 February 2020 at 7 p.m.

For the 5th time, the Geneva Internet Platform will confer the Geneva Engage Awards to International Geneva actors who have made the most innovative and efficient use of social media. The awards will be presented on 29 January, preceded by the conference "Online Participation: Towards Sustainable and Engaging Conferences". The event will be held at WMO with the possibility of participating online.

From 16 to 18 December 2019, the UNHCR and the Government of Switzerland will jointly host in Geneva the first-ever Global Refugee Forum (GRF). The two-day global conference is the first gathering at the Ministerial level to follow up on the practical implementation of the Global Compact on Refugees.

The Young Activists Summit "Women and Girls Driving Progress" will be held on 10 December 2019 at the Palais des Nations on the occasion of Human Rights Day. This Summit will bring together six young female activists.

To mark GEN’s 20th anniversary, a special PechaKucha Night and High-Level Discussion on the role of Geneva in placing the environment on the highest political agenda will be organized on 25 and 26 November 2019 at the International Environment House II.

According to the World Health Organization, two billion people still do not have basic sanitation facilities. How do governments and organisations address this sanitation crisis? On 19 November, the "Toilet Revolution" event, organized by Heidi News and the Graduate Institute with the support of  the Toilet Board Coalition and UN-Water. will focus on digital health innovations in the field of sanitation and will shed light on organisations based in Geneva working to improve the global sanitation landscape.

To pay tribute to the civilian victims of armed conflict, Handicap International will unveil an Unknown Civilian Memorial under the Broken Chair on 14 November 2019. At the same time, a travelling exhibit entitled «Stop bombing civilians» will be presented on the Place des Nations from November 11 to 17.
